Monday 5/11/20

Back to Amplify this week. We are moving on to Lesson 1.5 – Photosynthesis in Ecosystems.

Make sure that you are watching the videos posted on Teams for Amplify assignments. You will have a very hard time using the simulations and tools correctly if you do not watch the videos.
I will take your missing work. You need to let me know when you are turning something in late. Really, you have until:

June 3rd – Students may elect to be graded with the traditional letter grade or to choose a grade of “credit.” If a student has earned credit, they will have achieved the minimum standard.

June 10th – Grades are due and will be stored

All assignments and journals are located on our TEAMS page in the toolbar at the top of the page.

I hope you all are getting a routine down with your daily life. Weekly, my Monday are the long hard work days with multiple meeting. By Wednesday things have calmed down pretty good 🙂 Try your best to work hard during the week. We are almost done with this school year, don’t give up or slack off now. 8th graders in about 4.5 weeks! If you need anything please let me know. Have a good week everyone!

5/4/20

Happy Monday Life Science Students!
I hope you all had a nice weekend. This week in Life Science we are going to take a break from Amplify Science. There are two assignments for this week located on TEAMS.
#1-Bill Nye Video and Questions
#2-Safe Passage Article and Summary
Both of these assignments are FORMS documents.
IMPORTANT: if you click “Submit” at the end of the questions you WILL NOT be able to go back and edit your answers. It will not reset your questions, so DO NOT CLICK SUBMIT until you are completely finished with all of your answers or your Summary Paragraph.
Make sure you are answering your weekly JOURNAL question as well. These are worth 20 points just like in the classroom. Copy and paste the question, respond with at least 3 complete sentences. There are many missing journals from last week…
LATE WORK
Check Powerschool! I will take late work but please please email me to let me know what you are turning in late. If you have questions on last week’s 1.4 grade remember that activity 3 was also taken for a grade. Miss Kathryn on our video gave us the answers to all 5 of the fill in the blank questions. If you did not get a 5/5 you did not watch the video.
If you have questions or are having issues please let me know. Reminder that my office hours are 10:00-11:00 and 2:00-3:00 Tuesday-Friday. Monday’s are meetings and gradebook updates. I will still be able to answer questions on Monday.
Have a great week everyone!

Make sure you are keeping up on your emails. Try to clear your inbox everyday. Check all sections of your email, not just the favorites. I have been informed by a couple students that my emails were going to their junk mail, or their “other” inbox.
I hope you all are doing well. I sure do miss you guys! I wish we could be doing fun labs, dissections, building DNA models and 3D ecosystems 🙁. Make sure you are communicating with me if there is an issue with an assignment or a situation in your own life.
This week’s assignment is posted on TEAMS. Lesson 1.4 has 4 activities to “HAND IN”. Also, don’t forget about your weekly journal!

Friday 4/24/20

Happy Friday!

Just wanted to give a friendly reminder that you have one assignment and one journal entry for this week due Sunday by 8:00 pm.

Amplify – Lesson 1.3 (Make sure you click hand in ALL three time it shows up in the lower right corner) 30 points

Journal 4/20/20 – “How was your weekend? What did you do? Is your family doing anything fun and exciting with your time in isolation?” 20 points

Missing or Incomplete:

If you have a missing assignment you can still do them for points. Let me know when you do. If you have and incomplete assignment, most likely for Amplify, it is probably because you did not click “Hand In”  ALL 3 times. You can check your work progress on Amplify. Three lines in the top left corner will bring you a menu where you can find “My Work” to see if you have parts of assignments not handed in. If you need clarification on an assignment email me.

Have a great weekend everybody!

Week 5 – 4/20/20

Hi guys,
I just want to remind you that we are still trying our best to learn during this online experience. I am only assigning 1-2 assignments per week. Remind yourself that the answers you type in for Amplify are not a text message. It is not a quick answer. Your answers should be well thought out and written with proper grammar and punctuation. Explain your thinking as completely as possible.
We will still do a weekly journal. Just like in my classroom, you need to copy and paste the journal question (5points). Then, you need to respond with a minimum of 3 complete sentences (5points/each=15points). Your total is out of 20 points.
Email me if you have any questions. I will be able to respond the quickest during my office hours. A reminder that my hours are 10-11 and 2-3 Tuesday – Friday. I am trying to use Monday to get the gradebook updated. You can still email me on Monday’s.
I hope you all have a good week! Hang in there, stay safe, keep your body healthy!

Tuesday 4/14/20

I hope you all had a good Easter weekend! We made some pretty good food at my house 🙂 Just some reminders for the week.

  1. I will be sending out an Email on Monday’s with your weekly assignments plan. There will be 1-2 assignments a week.
  2. We are working with AMPLIFY SCIENCE. When we do not have much reading for the week we will also do an article response form.
  3. The INSTRUCTIONS for the assignments are located on TEAMS.
  4. CLEVER is where you should start your journey. Clever is our homeroom where we can get to all of our resources and online platforms. From Clever you can get to Teams, Amplify and all of our articles.
  5. The WILDSIDE HOMEWORK CALENDAR is also being used. This should be checked weekly as well.
  6. READ YOUR EMAILS! I know there is a ton ton ton of emails, but you need to make sure you are reading them.
  7. Assignment for this week is posted  : Amplify Science – Matter and Energy in Ecosystems – Chapter 1: Photosynthesis – Lesson 1.2
  8. All parts of the lesson are DUE by Sunday the 19th at 8:00 PM. Make sure you HAND IN on AMPLIFY. You then TURN IN on TEAMS.

Hope you have a good week! Let me know if you have any questions. Remember my  “Office Hours” are 10-11 and 2-3. I will be checking emails all day, but those times are when I can respond quickest.

Friday April 10th

FRIDAY!
Happy Friday Life Science students! I hope your week has gone well so far. By now you should be figuring out some kind of routine to your daily schedule. It looks like most of you have completed your assignments for this week for Life Science. Nice work! If you have not started your science homework yet I am a little confused why you would wait until the weekend to do school work. Either way, both assignments are due by Sunday at 8:00 pm. Next week we will continue working with Amplify Science. Because we do not have school on Easter Monday, April 13th, your assignments will be sent out on Tuesday the 14th. Again, you will have the entire week to complete your assignment. Take your time with Amplify, have a well thought out answer free of grammar and punctuation errors. Take a look at the feedback that is given to you as well. Most likely there will only be one assignment next week. Therefore it should be quality work, not lets see how fast I can get this done.

There will be no work attached, but I will have your work in either Forms or Amplify. This should make it easier on you as well to keep track of what you have completed and what you have not “turned in” yet. • My assignments will be posted for the week by Monday at Noon.

Friday 3/27/20

Friday! Friday! Friday!

Happy Friday everyone. Remember your Science News For Students article questions are due today by midnight. So far I have about 80/127 submitted, not all are turned in on teams. Remember that you need to return to teams after “submitting” your form so you can “turn in” your assignment on teams. I know this is a hassle but TEAMS and CLEVER are our main platforms for assignments.

Last assignment before spring break. I need to know if you can get on to my CLEVER teacher page (Mr.Hunt – 7th Grade Life Science). This is the platform that you should get into first. From Clever you can open Teams and assignments, and Amplify if we decide to use it. I will try to be posting assignments on Clever and on TEAMS. So, send me a chat or an email to let me know if you can get onto my Clever page. If not I can get you a backup code.

SPRING BREAK = NO HOMEWORK DUHHHH 🙂

When we return from spring break we will start on ECOLOGY! I will send out a Monday email with the weekly schedule for science. There will be 1-2 assignments per week. You are being graded so make sure to take your time and formulate well thought out answers.

I hope you guys have a good time with your families during spring break! Try to be active during your time off. Of course there is always room for a couple relax days with hours of video games or Netflix but do your best to help around the house and get outside to move.
