Eighth Grade Parents/Guardians

The 2015 NAEP test will be given on February 24, 2015 to 8th graders. Students will take the assessment for about 90 minutes. NAEP 2015 will include mathematics, reading, and science. A random sample of our grade 8 students will be selected for the assessment. A more in depth informational letter will be sent home with your student this Friday, and an email will also be sent out with the same information Friday. Once again, this in ONLY for 8th graders.

If you prefer to not have your child participate in the assessment, please contact Bruce Campbell in writing no later than February 17, 2014.

We are excited that our school will be participating in NAEP and pleased that your child may be selected.

We know that C. R. Anderson’s students will help us show what our nation’s students know and can do.

Parent Council Meeting

The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, February 18th, so, if you are looking for a way to keep in touch with your child’s school – CRA Parent Council would like to meet you! We are looking forward to new ideas and energy and everyone is welcome.

Calling the Shots

ATTENTION: 6th Grade Parents

Remember your 6th grade student will need a tetanus booster (Tdap) to enroll in 7th grade. Out of our 330 current 6th graders here at CRA, only 100 have provided documentation of this tetanus booster. Now is a great time to get this required (by the State of Montana) booster.

Thanks to the 100 parents who have taken care of this booster in a timely manner.

Please call your health care provider to schedule this tetanus booster, or take your child to the Lewis & Clark Health Department’s:

  • Walk-in immunization clinic every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the County Health Department, 1930 Ninth Avenue. 443-2584

The MET, Live at C.R. Anderson Middle School!

The Helena School District is in its seventh year partnering with the Metropolitan Opera Company (the MET) for the Live in Schools program. The Live in Schools program provides tickets to four operas each season to introduce students to this incredible art form. Each opera is streamed live to our local movie theater, and the MET provides rich and detailed educator guides that help teachers and students learn about each show.

With our March show approaching—La Donna del Lago on Saturday, March 14—we want to remind C.R. Anderson students that everyone is welcome to be a part of the Live in Schools program.

There is also a special double bill—Iolanta and Bluebeard’s Castle on Saturday, February 14—for veterans of this fantastic program. This February show will be more challenging than other opera experiences, but it promises incredible music and theatrics. If you want to get involved with any opera this season, contact Mr. Cleary at 324-2816. I hope to see you at the opera!

CRA Off – Campus Emergency Evacuation

Recently all students participated in our annual evacuation drill to our Off-Campus Emergency
Evacuation Sites. We practice this drill in case there would be a situation where our students
can not stay in the building or need to leave the building due to an emergency.

The following are the locations our student would evacuate to:

6th grade and special needs: Calvary Baptist Church – across the street from CRA

7th grade: Headwaters Covenant Church, 1030 Choteau St. (formerly Alliance Church)

8th grade: Alliance Church, 1400 Stuart St. (formerly Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church)

If CRA would need to evacuate the building and could not return we would put into use our all
school In-Touch notification system. This is the same system that is used for our attendance
calling/emailing. You would receive a call and/or email letting you know the situation and the
location of the grade levels. We will also post the locations on our reader board at CRA.

We hope to not use these Off-Campus sites, but if we need to,we are prepared and ready.

Thank you to the churches and their staff members for allowing our students into their buildings!

MathCounts Competition Results

MathCounts Competition Results:

Overall the CRA MathCounts team placed 3rd at their resent competition in Great Falls.

Thomas Penley and Lauren Helbling will compete at the State MathCounts Competition on March 20th.

Of the top ten students at the event CRA had 5.  And of the top 4 students CRA had 3.

In addition 5 of the 12 countdown students were from CRA.

Thomas Penley took 4th in the count down competition.
